New Year’s Day celebrates the first day of the year.

National Heroes Day is held on the fourth Monday of January. First celebrated in 2003, this day honors Cayman’s National Heroes, recipients of the country’s highest award.

Ash Wednesday marks the first day of Lent, and takes place 46 days before Easter.

Discovery Day, the third Monday in May, commemorates the discovery of the Cayman Islands by Christopher Columbus in 1503.

Queen’s Birthday is taken as the Monday following the Saturday designated in the UK as the official birthday of the Queen.

Constitution Day, the first Monday in July, celebrates Cayman’s independence from the UK

Remembrance Day, the Monday after Remembrance Sunday, is held to remember those who fell in the two World Wars.
