Kaibo restaurant - beach bar - marina, located on a palm fronded white sand beach, has become synonymous with barefoot escapism. Northside’s hot spot is well worth a look if you haven’t visited recently. The drive is via some other worthwhile local sights but the best way is to come by boat to the marina. The ‘Kaibo Express’ water taxi service offers a comfortable passage day or night from the pick up point of your choice.  There are two restaurants, the beach bar downstairs and -Upstairs- on the first floor.

Kaibo’s ‘Upstairs’ has reopened as a contemporary restaurant with an elegant relaxed atmosphere. Huge white muslin curtains and fresh local flowers adorn a design concept where ‘Modern Caribbean’  is reflected in the menu. Chef Steve Fanning from Ontario sources top quality fresh ingredients, locally where possible, and presents his mouthwatering dishes with inventive flair. The extensive wine menu is available for you to pick a fine wine to complement your meal. Inside the air conditioned restaurant is an impressive granite topped bar specialising in a selection of rare rums. Reservations are recommended to dine outside for breathtaking views from the balcony.

On the sand below, Kaibo Beach Bar and Grill is the perfect paradise  venue with coconut palms, double loungers and thatched cabanas surrounding the ‘tiki hut’ style bar. The Grill offers relaxed lunches of fresh sandwiches, salads, wraps and fresh local fish to the sound of reggae music. The popular evening menu enjoys simple meals served under torch light.

Tuesday night’s -Caribean Barefoot BBQ- gets most of the audience dancing to a live local band (‘Surf’s Up’ from ‘Hi-Tide’) and a Caribbean BBQ to feast on. 2 for 1 Rum Punches and a reasonable price tag of $25 makes this a popular midweek event.

-Luna Del Mar- is Kaibo’s monthly full moon dining experience that has become the talk of the island, and well worth planning a visit to. (Always a Friday nearest the full moon, check the website for dates). You’ll need to book well in advance to secure a table this chic romantic night out.

Kaibo loves live music and in addition to the Tuesdays there is a Holiday Monday event called -Hot Buttr’d and JAM- introducing new acoustic bands alongside Oneworld DJs who bring some  tropical sounds to the beach.

Come to Kaibo for a lesson in kitesurfing or have a try on a paddleboard for an hour. Rent a volleyball or take out a kayak to the mngroves. There is always something fun to do on Kaibo Beach.

Kaibo Mardi Gras is the largest party on the island . 2009 sees the 10th Anniversary of Mardi Gras in the Cayman Islands and has aptly named the event the ‘Decade of Decadence’. There is a VIP ‘Casino Royale’ area with a ‘Bond theme’, a champagne tent, A Mojito Bar, a mudslide tent and 2 beach bars. 3 live bands, DJs, MCs, dancing girls and over a ton of beads to throw will provide enough entertainment for the crowd of over 5000 people. A regular ferry service runs between Safehaven and Kaibo all day until 2am, ad a park and ride service operates from Rum Point Drive. Mardi Gras in Cayman is always celebrated on the Ash Wednesday public holiday which this year falls on 25th February.

‘Million Dollar Run’ is the Easter weekend powerboat race hosted by Kaibo and Spin FM every Easter Monday. Fast boats, crew competitions and plenty of champagne drinking ensures a taste of the high life.
Oktoberfest comes to Kaibo once a year with oompah music, draught beer and a chance to dust off you leiderhosen.
New Year is  sparkling and elegant dinner party on Kaibo Beach with champagne reception, DJ, fireworks and light displays. Every year the Black and White theme inspires fellas to don their tux and board shorts and the girls to go glam. Large tables and cabanas get reserved months in advance.
