Dr. Dirk Belfonte is a paediatric urgent care specialist who has been practicing at the Chrissie Tomlinson Memorial Hospital since 2007.
Dr. Belfonte graduated in 1993 from the University of the West Indies and did his initial training in emergency medicine and paediatrics. He practiced with the Accident and Emergency department of the George Town Hospital, and then migrated to the UK to complete his postgraduate training in Emergency Medicine, Child health and General Practice at the Alder Hey Children’s hospital and the Liverpool Women’s hospital, two of the largest specialised centres in Europe.
Dr. Belfonte is accredited in the UK as a specialist General Practitioner and practised there for two and a half years prior to returning to Cayman. He is a member of the American Academy of Paediatrics and Royal College of Physicians of and has completed diploma studies in Child Health and Medical Law.
While he is well rounded in his skills, Dr. Belfonte is especially comfortable with urgent paediatric and adult medical problems, trauma, paediatric dermatology and elderly care.
