Yes indeed. We have a very good government department – The Department of the Environment who manage this and have assigned replenishment zones etc. Maps are available on this website, just click on this link________________
Cayman’s reefs are swarming with fish. If you don’t have access to a boat you can snorkel of Cemetary Reef (by the cemetery in West Bay, opposite the fire station) to see lovely tropical fish. You follow the footpath to the beach and walk left about 50 yards then swim out about 50 – 100 yards. Beware though – I found the Sargeant Major Fish to be very aggressive! They certainly won’t hurt you but if you are not used to snorkel just be aware that they will swim at you looking for food.
