Shipping From Cayman

The Shipping Process from Cayman

Please see below general guidelines for shipping from Cayman.
To start the shipping process, we will need you or your agent to complete the dock receipt form below so booking can be made.

  • Actual Shipper Address, Telephone Number in Cayman & Contact Name
  • Actual Consignee Address, Telephone Number & Contact Name
  • Notify Party Address & Telephone Number
  • Discription of Goods & Number of Pieces
  • Container Number, Total Measurement (Cubic Footage) & Gross Weight

The next steps are:

  • Seaboard will prepare the dock receipt that your agent will take along with the shipment to the Port Authority warehouse on Portland Road, where the dock receipt gets validated by Cayman Customs.
  • While at Customs at the Port Authority warehouse your agent will also present and get validated the Customs Export Entry Form.  You can prepare that form before you go.
  • The link to the export customs form is  http://www.customs.gov.ky/pls/portal/docs/PAGE/CUSHOME/HELP/FORMS/CUSTOMS%20EXPORT%20ENTRY%20WEB.PDF
  • Your agent will then return the validated Customs Entry and Dock Receipt to Seaboard’s office at the Mirco Center which we will use to effect the shipment.
  • An invoice or packing list of items will need to be provided to Seaboard and Cayman Customs, and will be required for Customs at destination.
  • A copy of the passport page of the shipper and consignee will be required for Customs purposes if shipper or consignee are individuals and not a company.

Cayman Customs approval required for container to be loaded at your premises

Please note that Cayman Customs approval is required to allow you to get the container dropped for loading at your premises.

The contact at Customs you should contact for approval is:

Tara Bodden
Senior Customs Officer
Tel: (345) 949-4579
Email: [email protected]

Once Customs approval is given, Customs will advise Seaboard Marine that we can release a container to the trucking company of your choice who will pick up the container from the Port Authority and drop to your premises.

Please ensure that the goods are properly blocked and braced in the container when loaded, to avoid shifting during the voyage and damage to your goods.

Shipping vehicle from Grand Cayman

To ship a vehicle from Cayman the following will be necessary:

Cancel the license and registration of the vehicle

  • Seaboard Cayman will need to provide the owner of the vehicle or their agent a letter to Licensing Department stating that we acknowledge that the shipper will be exporting the vehicle from Cayman.
  • We will need the details of the vehicle to provide this letter:  Make, Model, Year, Colour, VIN #, Vehicle Owner’s Name and Address in Cayman.
  • The owner of the vehicle or their agent will take this letter  to the Licensing Department where they will get the license and registration cancelled and give us a copy of these.
  • They will also need to complete, while at Licensing Department, an application for export which is to be stamped by Licensing Department and a copy provided to us.

Customs clearance at destination

You or the consignee will be responsible to clear the shipment through the relevant local Customs authority upon its arrival at destination.

You or the consignee will be responsible for all destination charges.

SHIPMENTS TO THE U.S.A.

Importer Security Filing (ISF)

The shipper (that is you) will be required to file an ISF with US Customs prior to shipping. We can recommend a customs broker file the ISF on your behalf.

US Customs Inspection Possible

It is important to note that US Customs may pull the shipment for inspection upon arrival in the US.  They will then levy a fee for this inspection.  They will advise what the fee is after inspection.
