Domestic Helper Job Profile and Description
Domestic helpers are tasked with performing routine and special home maintenance chores to keep the home tidy, clean, clothes laundered, dried and ironed and kitchen dishes washed. They are also tasked to assist in non-routine home chores from time to time.
Domestic Helper Duties and Responsibilities
Complete routine cleaning tasks in assigned home areas
Collect dirty and used clothes for scheduled laundry
Empty waste bins, empty and clean/replace ashtrays, and dispose of all trash and waste items from rooms
Collect and clean dishes after each meal
Maintain kitchen and bathroom cleanliness
Dust window blinds and rearrange draperies to their original placements
Clean rugs and carpets, upholsteries, curtains and draperies, using specified vacuum cleaners etc.
Sweep, mop and polish non-carpeted floors,
Perform general cleaning at least once a week or month depending on homeowner preference. Six hours and over is the min. $11.00 per hour. Pay daily, weekly or Monthly, Our month closes on 25th of each month.
Clean kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, blenders, etc.
Ensure homes are secured while at client premises, and prior to leaving making sure all windows and doors are locked.
Assist in the procurement of groceries
Occasionally babysit for clients
Be able to prepare meals for the clients
Helpers are not to take persons to clients residence with them
Domestic Helper Skills and Specifications
Must be dependable, responsible, honest and hard working
Must be neat and tidy
Must be able to follow directions
Must be able to limit your personal calls while at work
Must have good interpersonal skills to get along with clients and family for example, read, write and understand the English language.
Must have the ability to use cleaning tools and appliances
Must have a cheerful personality
Must be able to answer the phone and take messages if the need arises.
Driving and swimming will be preferred.
Domestic Helper Education and Qualifications
No formal education is required and most skills are learned on-the-job or through informal training conducted by the employer.
